MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 11 / AUGUST 17, 2019 BUDDS CREEK RACEWAY / BUDDS CREEK, MARYL AND P64 Roczen faded in the waning laps to finish seventh. Anderson was the first one to pass Roczen for second, around the halfway point, and he ended the day with a solid 4-2 for second overall. Musquin fought his way up to third in the moto in front of Osborne, Barcia, Wilson, Roczen, Cunningham, Pless- inger, Short and Bloss, but it wasn't enough to keep Tomac from clinching. "It's so special," Tomac said. "So many things had to go our way this weekend, with having a 1-1 and beat- ing the two guys behind us, in second and third, and then even in moto two, it had to fall the right way. We just kept our head down, kept pinning it, and things went our way. So rad." Tomac carries exactly 50 points going into the final round, which is IIIMY OWN RACE: 25 MARVIN MUSQUIN 3RD 450MX (3-3) Although Marvin Musquin is no longer in championship conten on, he s ll has a fight on his hands for second in the championship at the final round in Indiana with Ken Roczen. He leads Roczen by five points. "It was just a tough day, physically," Musquin said. "My starts were decent—I was up there in the first turn—but both starts, I went wide. Me and Zach [Osborne] were together, and we ba led, and I got a li le bit excited and got on the gas and went wide. But it's not an excuse. It wouldn't have changed the end results. I just couldn't hang on to that pace. I just fought for third." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 2ND 250MX (2-5) Points leader Adam Cianciarulo had to ba le all day at Budds Creek, but it was worth every point. "Every point is important," Cianciarulo said. "For me, a couple, good/decent starts today, and then the first laps, I was terrible out there. I got into a bunch of riders on the first lap and went way back, so I had to claw my way back forward on a track that's super-tough to pass, and it's super-hot out as well. Dylan [Ferrandis] ran it in hot on me in the corner. Honestly, I don't want this championship to be easy, so much respect. To come out second overall on the day is a solid points day for us." Venezuelan Kawasaki racer Lorenzo Locurcio. But in the 250cc class, you have to go much deeper into the field to find the top privateers. De- pending on your definition of a privateer, it's either 3D Racing Yamaha-backed Nick Gaines, who is 23rd in points, or full-on privateer Kawasaki pilot Kevin Moranz out of Kansas, who is backed by Custom Power Sports and Plumbing Plus. Moranz is 26th in points. In the 250MX class, there are more factory racers because of the split coasts in AMA Supercross, and it's also tougher to com- pete because of the amount of engine work required to make motorcycles competitive. Briefly... Jason Anderson picked up his pace at Budds Creek and finished second overall.
