Good Machines
I always considered the
Woods' Nortons to be
among the most beautiful
motorcycles of all time. Not
only did Mr. Woods build
very fast machinery, he took
the time to give them that
touch of beauty.
R.I.P. Mr. Woods, an
admirer!
Jerry Burns
Thank you for this write-up.
When I was following our
local (short) flat track scene
just a few years back, the
expert class was probably
90% 450F specials with
youngsters doing incredible
things with these MX-framed
machines. But there was a
50-plus-year old guy on a
Woods Rotax that just killed
them. The power, his style—
it was in so many ways no
contest.
As a former club road
race guy in the late '90s
and early 2000s, I loved it
when someone showed up
with the 676, but I had to
acknowledge it was game
over if they knew how to ride
that thing in the lightweight
classes. What a bike. What
a giant in our American mo-
torsport scene.
All hail Ron Wood.
Bob Close
Sorry to learn of Ron
Wood's death. He was an
inspiration to Norton folks.
Nice article, Larry.
Neil Tolhurst
He lived a full life!

The AMA Supercross title
went to the final round, but
Cooper Webb needed a
20th-place finish, not real
suspenseful. Now the sus-
pense is gone for this series
with one round left. Both
series need some changes
to keep some excitement for
fans and the riders.
Supercross and Pro Mo-
tocross need a points format
to increase the odds of the
final round determining the
title. If they would at least
make the last round double
points that would be a good
start.
At least the 250MX title is
still up for grabs and see-
ing someone else winning
[Shane McElrath] was a nice
change. Adam Cianciarulo
should win the title, but if
a team doesn't offer Dylan
Ferrandis a 450 ride, they're
crazy.

In The Paddock:
When The Reward
Is Risk
To finish first, you first have
to finish is an old saying. I
believe that Roger DeCoster
also said that it is who goes
the slowest, but crosses
the checkered flag first that
counts.
When you are young you
never think that you will get
hurt. Hopefully, you will live
long enough to see that
through.

Zarco And KTM
No excuse, his teammates
are outriding him with much
less experience. Adapt to
the bike; they did.
