IN THE WIND P48 Facciotti Takes Canadian MX Title C olton Facciotti (Honda) wrapped up the 2019 Canadi- an Motocross title with a third-place finish at the season finale at Walton Raceway in Walton, Morris-Turn- berry, Ontario, Canada, August 18. Of the eight-round motocross championship, which is also part of the Rockstar Triple Crown (made up of motocross, arenacross and su- percross), Facciotti won two rounds and finished off the box in just one all season. He finished out the 450MX Championship 22 points ahead of Mike Alessi (Honda), who also had two wins for the season but wasn't quite as consistent over- all as Facciotti. Third in the championship went to Walton winner Phil Nicoletti (Yamaha), who went 3-1 on the day, ahead of Cole Thompson's 1-3, Faciotti's 2-2 and Alessi's 4-4. Nicoletti came on strong late in the series by winning the last two rounds but came up eight points shy of catching Alessi. Opening-round winner Thomp- son (KTM) finished out the cham- pionship in fourth, followed by Cade Clason (Husqvarna). Dylan Wright (Honda) capped off his championship-winning sea- son in MX2 with his fourth overall victory of the year. He closed out the season with a comfort- able 73-point margin over series runner-up Jess Pettis (KTM). Tyler Medaglia (Kawasaki) cap- tured the championship bronze. CN Jonathan Mayzak, 1999-2019 M X Sports Pro Racing, the organizer of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, reported the tragic loss of AMA Pro Motocross racer Jonathan Mayzak, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. The 20-year-old racer died August 11 as a result of injuries sustained the night before the Unadilla National in New Berlin, New York, when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in front of the paddock on Route 8. State Police have charged the 31-year old man operating the vehicle with driving while drug-impaired and vehicular assault. More charges are ex- pected as a result of Mayzak's death. Jonathan first competed on a national stage in 2006 when he earned a gate at the 2006 AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn's in the 51cc (4-6) class, and again in 2015 in Open Pro Sport. In 2016 Jonathan earned his professional motocross license and was assigned #210. This year the #210 competed in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in four events in the 250MX class, including the inaugural Florida Na- tional and historic Southwick National, making the "Fast 40" in both. Jonathan and his fiancé, Kenzie Heb- belman, were planning to marry in October and take a cruise for their honeymoon. In addition to Kenzie, Jonathan is survived by his parents and several siblings, two of which are in the military serving our coun- try.
