IN THE WIND P46 history of our company when he won the World Superbike Championship with us in 2000. I remember doing a huge amount of testing on his bike, because Honda kept developing the engine and improving it, so we had to update the exhaust every time! We worked really hard to give them what they needed, and we produced over 40 different versions of the exhaust design, but it's part of our DNA to pro- vide the best. So the harder they worked us, the more it paid off, and together with Colin, we and Honda won the championship, as the start of a great collabora- tion that's endured since then. All of us at Akrapovic are pleased to have Colin as part of the family, and we look forward to working with him in the years to come." "It's an honor to be an Akrapo- vic brand ambassador," said Edwards. "Everything is top-level with them, from the workshop on through to the manufacturing operation. Everything is driven by passion, so it's hard not to admire what they do, and the way they go about it. It's good to be associated with a product that's the best there is, and it's an honor and a pleasure to be part of the company. We're plan- ning many things to promote the Akrapovic brand, so it'll be a fun adventure." Asked by Hoffmann which was his favorite bike out of the sev- eral contrasting ones he'd raced with during a 20-year career at world championship-level, Ed- wards immediately pointed at the Honda SP-2 he won his second World Superbike title on in 2002. "This is the best bike ever in my entire life in racing—it did every- thing I wanted," he said. Alan Cathcart Short Re-Signs With Rockstar Energy Husqvarna A ndrew Short has signed a one- year extension to his current contract with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing Team. This means that Short will continue to race cross-country rally competitions through the end of the 2020 season. "I'm excited to be with the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team for another year," Short said. "It takes time to get to the point where you understand rally and can ride competitively, but I believe I am at that stage now. There is always more to learn, but with the Dakar moving to Saudi Arabia, it will be a new experience for everyone, and I'm hop- ing that will be in my favor and help me continue to progress. I'm really happy to be part of the team, and I think it gives me the very best opportunity. To be successful in rally, you need the very best crew behind you, and I have exactly that right now. "I'm looking forward to what 2020 brings." CN Andrew Short extended his contract with Husqvarna for another year. PHOTO: RALLYZONE
