start, but I got to second and
tried to win the race, but I was
quite nervous and I couldn't. The
second race was better. I'm really
happy to finish on the podium and
to get the 2019 MXGP title. Also,
I want to thank my family and my
girlfriend, and all the fans who
follow me."
"I had two amazing races," said
Seewer. "I was consistent, and I
tried to make zero mistakes. The
heat was brutal, but we go one
step higher every time."
In MX2, Red Bull KTM's Jorge
Prado recorded his 25th and
26th moto wins of the year for his
14th overall victory of 2019. The
Spaniard now leads his nearest ri-
val, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's
Thomas Kjer Olsen, in the class
championship by 130 points.
Olsen went 2-2 in Italy.
"The track was a bit easier
and more flowing yesterday, and
it was harder to find the perfect
rhythm today," Prado said after
his victory. "It was tough. I was
quickly into first in both motos,
and it was a case of good starts,
good riding and moving forward."
Looking ahead, Prado said,
"Sweden [Uddevalla] is a track I
really like, and I won a moto there
and took a podium in my first sea-
son in 2017. Hopefully, we'll do
a nice race there next weekend,
and it will be doubly nice to get
the title."
There was plenty of carnage
going on behind the two leaders at
Imola. When the racing was over,
it was Frenchman Maxime Renaux
(Yamaha) who landed on the last
step of the MX2 podium. Belgian
Jago Geerts (Yamaha) was fourth
overall and Dutchman Calvin
Vlaanderen (Honda) fifth. CN
