FLAT TRACK AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 12 / AUGUST 6, 2019 BL ACK HILLS SPEEDWAY / RAPID CIT Y, SOUTH DAKOTA P98 BY DAVE HOENIG PHOTOGRAPHY BY DAVE HOENIG/FLAT TRAK FOTOS A merican Flat Track wrapped up its stay at the 79th Annual Sturgis Rally in Rapid City, South Dakota at the high banked half-mile of the Black Hills Speedway. AFT Twins points leader Briar Bauman recovered from his rocky outing at the Buffalo Chip TT a few days earlier with a wire-to-wire win. "I threw the thing on the ground twice the other night," said Bauman. "I owed my team this win, times 10." It has been the case almost the whole 2019 Ameri- can Flat Track season. Once again, Bauman (Indian Motorcycle/Progressive Insurance, Indian FTR750) was AFT Twins' fastest qualifier and fastest semi win- ner to sit on the pole for the 25-lap main event. When the green light flashed, Bauman smoothly took the point with his Wrecking Crew teammates Bronson Bauman and Jared Mees giving chase. Jeffrey Carver (Roof-Systems of Dallas, TX/Indian of Metro Milwaukee, Indian FTR750) and Brandon Robinson (Kennedy Racing/Armbruster Racing/ Rod Lake, Indian FTR750) were also mixed into the lead pack. The four-rider pack of chasers was slowly drop- ping back, and then Bronson, Carver and Robin- son started to run Briar down with the lead going from over half a second to next to nothing. Mees, meanwhile, slipped back to a battle with PJ Jacob- sen (Coolbeth-Nila Racing Weiss Racing, Indian BRIAR BAUMAN REBOUNDS WITH BAUMAN BAGS BLACK
