year, the large crowd started to
anticipate another one. Mees
was too strong on this occasion
and held on to the win by 0.151 of
a second.

OLD GUYS RULE
Oklahoma's Gary Ketchum (Richard
Harrison Racing/House of Kawasa-
ki, Kawasaki Ninja 650) qualified for
his first-ever AFT Twins main event
at 59 years of age. This surpasses
another Oklahoma rider, Ronnie
Jones, who also made his first main
of 2019 in Sacramento. Ketchum's
race ended on lap 17 for a 15th-
place finish.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
American Flat Track was forced to
make a return trip to the Golden
State following a washout of its
original May date. The rescheduling
has forced the teams and AFT into
four races and nearly four thousand
miles of travel into two weeks. Most
teams are now making the 1900
mile trip to next Saturdays Peoria
TT, where the unknown awaits.
WILL HE OR WON'T HE?
One of the biggest unknowns,
(along with the "new" jump), is if the
"King of Peoria" Henry Wiles will
be able to ride after breaking his
leg on Tuesday in Rapid City. "I am
looking forward to Peoria, but look-
ing forward to getting out of Peoria
safe and sound," said Jared Mees.
