Ulster Grand Prix
C
urrent Isle of Man TT lap record holder Peter
Hickman (Smiths BMW) took an incredible
seven race victories at the 2019 Ulster Grand Prix,
August 10-11, including a new all-time lap record at
136.415 mph—the fastest average motorcycle lap
speed at any circuit in the world.
Hickman became the first rider to win all seven
races he entered (three in Superbike, three in
Supersport, one in Superstock), breaking Phillip
McCallen's 23-year-old record for five wins in a
week.
"It's been an awesome week and the team has
been phenomenal. The bikes have been faultless,
and I can't thank them enough for what they do for
me," said Hickman. "They've built some awesome
bikes, and although I try to win every race, to have
actually achieved that is something I never really
thought I'd do. It's just been a superb week, and to
create history like we have is testament to every-
one at Smiths Racing."
Only four other riders won races at the 2019
Ulster Grand Prix, with Paul Jordan and Christian
Elkin sharing the two Super Twins wins, with Neil
Kernohan taking the Lightweight 250 win, and
Michael Dokoupil the 125GP win.
American Patricia Fernandez (Kawasaki) took
21st in Superstock, 36th in the first Superbike race
and 16th in Superbike race two. CN
Peter Hickman (60) leads Dean Harrison
early in the wet Superbike race one.
