Vore Holds On To Win Battle Creek
East Hare Scrambles
R
ound six of the SRT-AMA
East Hare Scrambles Cham-
pionship made its annual stop in
Battle Creek, Michigan, August
10-11, where local favorite Tyler
Vore held on to take the Pro-
class win aboard his GasGas.
Vore took the early lead but
found himself battling Shane
Spangler (KTM) late in the race
for the overall win. Kyle McDonal
(Beta) got in on the fun, as well.
While pressuring Vore, Span-
gler hit the deck, which allowed
McDonal to move into the sec-
ond-place position. McDonal,
however, couldn't maintain the
point after committing a mistake
of his own shortly afterward and
handing the runner-up slot back
to Spangler.
Vore stayed clear of all of the
commotion behind him and ran
off with the win. Spangler kept
it on two wheels the rest of the
way for second, as did McDonal
in third.
Hunter Bush finished fourth,
while Jordan Mapes rounded out
the top five.
There was great racing in the
C class, where three teenagers
from row 10 locked horns on
their 125cc two-strokes. Kenito
Held (Suzuki), Bode Meylan
(KTM) and Jacob Mohnke
(Yamaha) passed many of the
A- and B-class riders that started
ahead of them as they battled for
the class win. Held and Meylan
traded the lead no less than
five times. Held made the final
move in the MX section, passing
Meylan and going on to take the
narrow win over the KTM rider.
Mohnke ended up third. CN
