Road Racing FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 7 / AUGUST 10-11, 2019 SONOMA RACEWAY / SONOMA, CALIFORNIA P88 Saturday Superbike 1. Garrett Gerloff (Yam) 2. Toni Elias (Suz) 3. Mathew Scholtz (Yam) 4. JD Beach (Yam) 5. Jake Gagne (BMW) Sunday Superbike 1. Cameron Beaubier (Yam) 2. Garrett Gerloff (Yam) 3. Josh Herrin (Suz) 4. Mathew Scholtz (Yam) 5. JD Beach (Yam) the final lap to be four seconds off Gilbert at the flag. Sonoma marked the first time in 2019 that Stefano Mesa (Mesa 37 Racing Kawasaki) did not visit the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 podium, finishing fourth. He bested Travis Wyman (Weir Everywhere Racing BMW). In the championship, Lee is 23 points up on Mesa, 149 to 126, with Gilbert third at 96. TWINS CUP The Twins Cup championship is wide open after perennial series leader and pole sitter Mi- chael Barnes (Quarterly Racing Ducati) suffered a motor break- down at Sonoma while battling for the lead with eventual race winner Alex Dumas (Roadrac- ing World Young Guns Suzuki SV650). Barnes' retirement signaled title gold for not just Dumas but Draik Beauchamp (AP Moto- Arts) and current number one Chris Parrish (Ghetto Customs Suzuki). However, the latter was unable to take advantage of the situation as he crashed out, leav- ing a possible 20 points on the table for second as Dumas had disappeared into the distance. Beauchamp took second at Sonoma, holding off the ad- vances of Dumas' teammate, first-time podium finisher Joseph Blasius. Kris Turner (RiderzLaw Racing Suzuki) took fourth ahead of Jason Madama (Con- quest CBD/RiderzLaw Racing Yamaha). In the series, Beauchamp leads on 108 to 107 for Dumas, with Barnes dropping to third on 106. CN Alex Dumas (16) heads for the Twins Cup win, while Michael Barnes (111) heads for a mechanical DNF. The championship is now wide open heading to Pittsburgh.
