IN THE WIND P40 Hines Wins Again At Sonoma NHRA N ine races into the 16-round NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle season and Screamin' Eagle Harley-Davidson's Andrew Hines is entering uncharted territory. Following his latest win at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals, July 26-28, Hines has now won seven of the first nine races to set a new career-best. He's won six events in a season twice. Hines also has a nearly perfect 29-2 record in elimination rounds, which puts him on pace to reset his career- best of 47-10 set in 2012. In Sonoma, Hines not only de- feated Denso EBR's Matt Smith in the final to win his 55th career event title, but he also captured the $25,000 top prize in Satur- day's Mickey Thompson Pro Bike Battle, a separate invitational event open to only to the top eight riders in the class. Hines has now won that race seven times in his career. "This weekend was phenom- enal," Hines said. "We built this new chassis and wrapped it with the Harley-Davidson FXDR body, and it's a package that was made to perform. This bike was built for me, and I'm so comfortable on it. It's mind-boggling what we've been able to achieve this year. The level of professionalism we have on our team is unsurpassed. I told my crew after the final that they make my job so easy." Hines raced teammate Eddie Krawiec in the final of Saturday's Pro Bike Battle and won eas- ily to pad his bank account by $25,000. He then set his sights on an elusive double-win and fin- ished the rout by beating archrival Smith in Sunday's final round.
