We tested the Moto Guzzi V11 Sport 20 years ago, and the yellow
beauty was pictured on the cover… Twenty-nine-year-old Davey
Camlin passed away after being involved in a multi-rider crash during a
semi at the DuQuoin Mile. Kevin Atherton, Brett Landes and Johnny
Murphree were also seriously injured in the crash. The race was
cancelled and the pro purse went to the Camlin family and to the Steel
Shoe Fund… Doug Henry became the sixth different rider to win a
250cc MX National in 1999 at Troy, Ohio.
Ten years after becoming the youngest rider ever to win a Grand National
race at the DuQuoin Mile, now 27-year-old Scott Parker won again at
DuQuoin. He was pictured on the cover of CN 30 years ago… Eddie
Lawson won the French Grand Prix… We covered the Human Race
Team's win at the Nelson Ledges 24-Hour in Ohio… Georgie Price took top
honors at the AMA Amateur/Youth Grand National Dirt Track Championship
in Illinois. Johnny Murphree and
Nicky Hayden battled each other in
the 85cc Modified (7-11) class.
