MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 9 / JULY 27, 2019 WASHOUGAL MOTOCROSS PARK / WASHOUGAL, WASHINGTON P64 IIIMY OWN RACE: 51 JUSTIN BARCIA 10TH 450MX (10-9) Bad starts ruined Jus n Barcia's day. "We struggled a li le bit this morning, made lots of li le changes all day," Barcia said. "In the first moto, I got a bad start again. I charged through the pack up to the top 10. I passed a lapper and got taken out, so that put me back a li le bit, but I s ll managed to finish 10th. Then I got another bad start in the second moto, which is frustra ng. I can't figure those out at the moment. I just charged as far as I could forward, and rode the best I could today. It was a tough one." 23 CHASE SEXTON 5TH 250MX (4-6) "Not an ideal day at Washougal, between bad starts and p-overs it just made the day super difficult," said Chase Sexton. "I'm not complaining; I'm the only person to blame for it! I just need to be be er, plain and simple. Fi h overall, but that's not what I show up to do. Going to figure it out these next two weeks and come out swinging for the last three!" 26 JEREMY MARTIN 9TH 250MX (13-7) "Washougal is a tricky track for me, so I'm happy to just be moving on from this race healthy," said JGRMX/Yoshimura/Suzuki's Jeremy Mar n. "In the first moto I had a good pace going while running in seventh posi on. Then I swapped out coming into a le -hand corner and went over the bars. I spun badly out of the gate in the second moto and was buried in the pack, but I made aggressive passes right away to finish seventh. My riding was decent. I just need be er starts." over Roczen, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Zach Osborne, Webb and Savatgy. "On the bike, it was like per- fection, other than the starts," Tomac said. "The second moto was pretty much mistake-free, and I was just feeling so good. When everything's in the right spot, right time, right place, that's what happens." Tomac passed at least 25 racers on his way to a 1-1 score at Washougal, while Roczen finished second overall with his 2-3, and Musquin was third with his 5-2. Tomac now leads the title chase by an even 50 points—two motos' worth—over Musquin with three rounds (six motos) still left to run. Roczen picked up four points on the day to Musquin and is now only sev- en points behind the Frenchman for second in the title chase. Musquin finished out the day on the podium but lost ground to points leader Tomac.
