To Be Better…
In my humble opinion, stopping
engine development for any of
the manufacturers is a step in the
wrong direction.

Great Day At The Beach
The year 1986 was just a few
short years ago, 33 to be exact!
Where does the time go is often
asked, and that is my question
now.
It seems to me this race
couldn't have been more than 10
years ago. David Bailey was my fa-
vorite rider, and I wasn't happy to
see this newcomer taking charge.
After '86, the battle was on, with
Jeff Ward, Bailey, Johnson and
a few other fast guys. The early
days of supercross were
the most exciting for me,
the glitz and glamor of
today's supercross and
motocross have lost that
appeal—at least for me
that the early days had.
Soon enough, though,
along came Bubba
[James Stewart], Ricky
[Carmichael], and Chad
[Reed] to relight the excitement of
supercross.

That was my era. Great bunch
of guys who inspire me to this day.
Great look back. Thanks, CN.

Harley-Davidson

Congrats to Harley for jumping
headfirst into a totally new market.
The bike's fit and finish looks
top notch. The pulsing idle is a
feature not seen on any other
E-bike that I know of, and it makes
sense. The "tank" makes the bike
look a little bloated, but it does
emphasize the motor as they
intended.
I wasn't sure I'd ever see the
day when Harley technology was
leading the way in front of the
Japanese manufacturers.

I'd like to see side-by-side perfor-
mance comparisons with the ICE
counterparts. I'll bet the battery
bike outperforms all the test, with
only the one exception—single trip
distance per "tank" of electricity.
With very limited maintenance
and probable extended tire life,
the electric bike may overcome its
price point.
I know it happens with hybrid
cars now.
