Suzuka 8 Hours This Week
T
he Suzuka 8 Hours takes
place July 28. One of the
biggest motorcycle races in the
world and certainly the most im-
portant for the Japanese manu-
facturers, Suzuka is always a
scene of ultra-fast wildcard riders
competing on the latest factory
prototype equipment against the
regular Endurance World Cham-
pionship riders, who are still bat-
tling for the overall championship
in this final round of the season.
On the wildcard front, the
Kawasaki Racing Team will
be bringing a full WorldSBK
team with current and four-time
WorldSBK Champion Jonathan
Rea and joined by Leon Haslam
and Toprak Razgatlioglu; the
Yamaha Racing Team will, once
again, field four-time winners
Katsuyuki Nakasuga, Alex Lowes
and Michael van der Mark; Red
Bull Honda will be running Stefan
Bradl, Takumi Takahashi and
Ryuichi Kiyonari; the Musashi RT
HARC-Pro Honda team will be
running Ryo Mizuno, Xavi Forés
and Dominique Aegerter; TK
Suzuki Blue Max will field Takuya
Tsuda, Azlan Shah and Grégory
Leblanc; and the powerhouse
Yoshimura Suzuki Team will host
Sylvain Guintoli, Yukio Kagayama
and Kasuki Watanabe.
Three teams are in conten-
tion for the overall champion-
ship honors at Suzuka. Team
SRC Kawasaki France leads the
series with 132 points from the
Suzuki Endurance Racing Team
at 127, with current champions
F.C.C. TSR Honda France third
at 109.
