FIM WORLD SUPERBIKE
CHAMPIONSHIP
race bike, did not expect to win
his first race of the season, as he
beat Rea by 3.333 seconds after
25 final laps.
Rea made a small change to
his bike from the Sunday sprint
race, and that was enough to
reduce his confidence in the front
and save it on his knee a couple
of times.
But take nothing away from
Davies who looked like his old
self as he found a setup to match
his ambitions. His most recent
previous win? Aragon, race two,
in April 2018.
Third again was Razgatlioglu,
pushing himself hard but losing
lots of rear grip on the final 10
laps. He has scored seven podi-
ums over the past five rounds.
Fourth in race two was Lowes,
the back row of the grid.
Rea, Davies and Sykes led
the field away, with only Rea not
on an "X" rear tire after a late
change from Razgatlioglu.
The top three finishing order
was Rea, Davies and Sykes, with
Razgatlioglu, Haslam and Lowes
finishing off the top six.
With a left shoulder separa-
tion, Bautista came in right after
the start of the final race, leav-
ing himself with a score of zero
American points.
It was a simply stunning con-
clusion to a weekend that got
more and more unbelievable as
it wound down toward the long
summer break.
Even Davies, despite his
upswing in fortunes after FP1
and a nice retro paint job on his
IIIMY OWN RACE:

"The result means I've overtaken Michael
[van der Mark] in the championship
standings, and I'm now third, but it was
a shame he had a problem with the bike
today, as he's done such a great job here
and at Donington so soon a er his Mi-
sano injury. But that's racing some mes,
and it's certainly going to make for an
interes ng final four rounds with both of
us determined to finish the season in the
top three."
