year, Eli Tomac went 3-1 to win the
Hangtown opener in his pro debut
a week before the Texas National,
then seemed to be on his way to
doing it again at Freestone (Texas)
the following week, where he led
2/3 of the first moto only to finish
second to Christophe Pourcel. But
in moto two, during the hottest part
of the day, Tomac led the first half of
the moto before he went backward,
eventually finishing 11th. This began
a streak of losses that lasted two
whole seasons before Tomac finally
won another national, which surpris-
ingly came at Freestone in 2012.
Then he finally won the title in 2013.
The Geico Honda team seems to be
doing the right thing to protect their
new 250cc SX champ.
