and Federico Caricasulo.
Cluzel came through to win, as
Caricasulo led for two laps, and
then Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki
Puccetti Racing) took over for 11.
Krummenacher came through
furthest, as his 11
th
-place qualify-
ing saw him three seconds back
after lap one, and in 10th place.
Cluzel won by 0.114 seconds
from Caricasulo, 0.436 seconds
from Mahias, and remarkably
only 0.804 seconds from Krum-
menacher.
Close and often frantic action
up front saw Mahias override at
times, often in full drama mode
through the Foggy Esses.
But it was Cluzel's day, and he
held off even the final Melbourne
loop attacks from Caricasulo to
win his 19th career WorldSSP,
and score WorldSSP race wins on
three different types of machines.
"It was not an easy race be-
cause Lucas was pushing hard
from the start and had a really
good pace, but with six laps re-
maining, I just had to go," Cluzel
said. "I made no mistakes in the
last three laps, tried to maintain a
fast pace, and that meant Fed-
erico had to push even harder to
try and pass me in the penulti-
mate turn. I'm so happy; it's been
a long time since Thailand, and
we struggled a little since coming
back to Europe."
Behind the podium prize-
peddlers and still championship
leader Krummenacher, Raffaele
De Rosa (MV Agusta Reparto
Corse) was fifth, Thomas
Gradinger (Kallio Racing Yamaha)
sixth and Irish wildcard rider Jack
Kennedy (Appleyard Macadams
Yamaha) seventh.
In the points, Krummenacher
has 173; Caricasulo 158, Cluzel
132 and new fourth place man
Mahias 82.
