P116 50 Years Ago JULY 22, 1969 LOOKING BACK Bob Hannah and his tuner Keith McCarty were featured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago. The winning duo had just clinched the 1979 250cc National MX Championship at High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. Gaylon Moiser won both 500cc motos… Brad Hurst came from last place to win the Castle Rock TT in Washington. It was his first career AMA GNC victory… Kenny Roberts had a tough outing at the Dutch Grand Prix and lost his points lead to winner Virginio Ferrari. 40 Years Ago JULY 18, 1979 Mark Brelsford was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years ago. The rookie Expert rode his Harley-Davidson Sportster to victory at the 50-lap TT National Championship at Ascot Park… We covered AFM road racing from El Toro, California. Some of those who took part were Art Baumann, Ron Grant, and Don Emde… We also had coverage of the Crestline M.C. Hare & Hound from Stoddard Wells, California.
