MOTOGP FIM MOTOGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 11 / JULY 5-9, 2019 SACHSENRING/ OBERLUNGWITZ, GERMANY P66 Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda) also lost a spot on the last lap, ceding 13th to Andrea Iannone's Aprilia. Nakagami was shattered after the race, on crutches all weekend with a severely in- jured left ankle after he'd been knocked off by Rossi at Assen. Five seconds away Karel Abra- ham (Avintia Ducati) took the last point, comfortably clear of Hafizh Syahrin's slowing Red Bull KTM. Miles behind Pecco Bagnaia (Pramac Ducati) secured only his fourth finish in nine races after running off at the first corner; fellow rookie Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM) was a second behind after falling and remount- ing. Factory KTM rider Johann Zarco's nightmarish season suf- fered another non-finish after he crashed out. slip on lap 23 let Dovi through, and a couple of laps later Miller as well. The quartet continued to the flag, over the line in just over half a second, with Petrucci having fought back ahead of Dovi and Miller ahead of Mir. Rossi was next, less than two seconds adrift, eighth his first finish in four races. Then the fading Morbidelli, who had succumbed to Espar- garo's Aprilia, only to see the Spaniard fall off in front of him. Lorenzo's replacement Stefan Bradl (Repsol Honda) had a solid ride to 10th, gaining the posi- tion from a slowing Pol Espar- garo with seven laps to go. The Red Bull KTM rider would lose another place to Avintia Ducati's Tito Rabat on the last lap; while a long way behind the injured started well, ahead of Crutchlow, but then dropped back into the clutches of the factory Duca- tis, Danilo Petrucci at this point ahead of Andrea Dovizioso. Petrucci was battered by a high- speed crash on Saturday but appeared to feel no ill effects. At half distance, he was ahead of Miller, and the trio fiercely engaged. Until then they'd been under severe pressure from Franco Morbidelli (Petronas Yamaha), who had Valentino Rossi (Mon- ster Yamaha) inches behind, but now Joan Mir (Ecstar Su- zuki) had found his way past the pressing Aleix Espargaro's Aprilia, and the fight became feistier. Mir got through to what was now fifth behind Petrucci, but a iii My Own Race: 04 ANDREA DOVIZIOSO 5TH MOTOGP "We couldn't have done more during the race, and the gap shows how we still need to improve under some aspects to be able to fight at the front in each situa- tion," said Andrea Dovizioso said of his day. "We're still second in the champion- ship despite the bad luck we had in Barcelona, and the issues we encountered in the last couple of races." 6 STEFAN BRADL 10TH MOTOGP "Not many people are able to ride in Repsol Honda colors at home, so it was a very special weekend for me," said Stefan Bradl. "Our approach in the race was good, maybe if I had been a little more aggressive in the opening laps, I could have stayed with the group in front better and been stronger but still, a top ten was my target." 66 NIKI TUULI 1ST MOTOE "In the race, because the weather is quite dif- ficult we didn't know where were the wet patch- es on track, and we made the bike softer," said MotoE winner Niki Tuuli. "Then straightaway when we started the race, and I hit the brakes at Turn 1 I, hit the bottom and knew it was too soft. After that, I tried to keep the riding quite soft for the first two laps, and after that, I tried to push a bit and find out where it was working or not. I made a couple of mistakes when I was pushing too much, but in the end, I made a small gap. It's a good start to the year!"
