Harley-Davidson Focuses on China
H
arley-Davidson has con-
firmed its plans to collabo-
rate with Chinese motorcycle
company Qianjiang (Qianjiang
Motorcycle Company Ltd) in
developing a small-bore Harley-
Davidson to market to entry-level
riders in the Asian region. In
what Harley calls an effort to
"build riders by expanding ac-
cess in Asia," they will be intro-
ducing a 338cc model to sell in
Chinese dealerships by the end
of 2020.
"Harley-Davidson selected
Qianjiang based on its experi-
ence developing premium small
displacement motorcycles,
established supply base, proven
capabilities in emerging markets,
and ability to meet consumer re-
quirements," read a release from
the Motor Company.
President and CEO, Harley-
Davidson Mat Levatich added,
"Harley-Davidson has always
been about inspiring riders
around the world. Our More
Roads plan is all about bringing
our brand of freedom to more
people, in more places, in more
ways. We're excited about this
opportunity to build more Har-
ley riders in China, one of the
world's largest motorcycle mar-
kets, by creating new pathways
to our brand."
Harley-Davidson went on to
reiterate its goal of growing its in-
ternational business to 50% of its
