Buchan, Redding Star at Knockhill BSB
T
he Bennett's British Super-
bike Championship rolled on,
taking to the Knockhill circuit in
Scottland for round five of the
championship. The surprise
winner was first-timer Danny
Buchan on day one, but it was
Redding who regained control of
the championship with a win on
day two.
On day one, Danny Buchan
piloted his FS3-Racing Kawasaki
to a flawless victory to claim his
career-first victory, becoming the
fifth different race winner of the
season.
"It's not sunk in yet and I'm
pretty overwhelmed by it," said
Buchan. "It was such a long
race. At the beginning of the
race I actually hit Taz, I hit his
exhaust going down the straight.
It was a good race and I knew I
could do a good job. Mid-race
onwards I settled into a rhythm
and brought the bike home and
took my first win."
Scott Redding put his Be
Wiser Ducati into second after
cutting through the pack from
his 16th-place grid start. Honda's
Xavi Fores held on for third.
On day two, Redding's perfor-
mance went a step higher as he
mastered the Scottish circuit to
claim the victory. By doing so, he
moved himself back into champi-
onship lead, overtaking Tommy
Bridewell to lead the way by four
points at 176.
Buchan was looking to ride
his momentum into another win,
and by lap 17 of day two he found
himself challenging Redding
for the lead, but unfortunately
the FS3-Racing Kawasaki rider
crashed out shortly after gaining
the lead, fortunately unhurt. That
left the door wide open for Red-
ding to claim the win, with Tarran
Mackenzie (McAMS Yamaha)
making amends for his day-one
crash with a second-place finish,
and Tommy Bridewell round-
ing out the podium aboard his
Oxford Racing Ducati. CN
