CHISHOLM OUT AT JGR
After not racing outdoors for quite some
time, Kyle Chisholm got the call as of
the High Point National to race in place
of Justin Hill at the JGR team, but after
two races under the JGR awning, the
team waited until they got confirmation
that Noren would take over the ride and
then axed Chisholm before Southwick,
leaving him in the lurch. But Chisholm
said on his social media that he tried
really hard to make it to Southwick
anyway, and although that didn't work
out, he'll be at RedBud racing the same
HEP Motorsports Suzuki he raced in
AMA Supercross this year.
PLESSINGER'S BACK
Monster Energy Yamaha's Aaron
Plessinger broke his heel at the
Daytona Supercross, and the injury
has been very slow to heal. The heel
area often suffers from low blood
flow, which can make healing slow
and difficult, but he returned to action
at Southwick. Last year's 250MX
National Champion qualified 30th and
went 18-16 for 17th on the day.
SEXTON STILL
FEELING IT
Geico Honda's 2019 250SX East
Champ, Chase Sexton, finally broke
through to win his first-ever AMA Na-
tional moto in moto one at WW Ranch
a week prior to Southwick, but he also
suffered heat stroke in the effort and
ended up dropping out of moto two
right away. At Southwick, he was still
feeling the effects of the heat stroke
from a week earlier and could only mus-
ter 13th in the first moto before opting
out of racing moto two.
TLD RUMORS
The TLD/Red Bull KTM team is finally
picking up some momentum outdoors.
At Southwick, Shane McElrath
grabbed a solid fifth overall with 6-7
moto scores. Fill-in rider Cameron
McAdoo—who raced for Geico Honda
as a fill-in during AMA Supercross—
went 11-6 for ninth overall. Rumor
has it that McAdoo will be remaining
on the TLD team for all of 2020, and
McElrath will actually be leaving the
team for the Star Racing Yamaha team
in 2020. This is a really odd circum-
stance, since the presumption was
that McElrath would move on from the
250cc class to race 450s on a KTM
team after so many years on the brand.
McElrath has only one more year left in
the 250 class. It might be that McEl-
rath thinks he has a significantly better
shot of winning a 250SX title on a Star
Racing Yamaha than he did on his
KTM, and this is his last shot to do so
before moving up to the 450 class.
Briefly...
Cooper Webb
claimed fourth
overall with a pair
of fourth-place
finishes.
