OFF-ROAD AMSOIL GNCC SERIES ROUND 8 / JUNE 23, 2019 SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN RESORT / SNOWSHOE, WEST VIRGINIA P74 "The first two hours is basically like a glorified trail ride for some of us up at the front," said Kailub Russell. "It's a pretty fast pace. But Ricky got off to a great start. He wanted to go. He was taking some chances on those fire roads. He was going quick. I'm like, 'man, that's a little sketchy on the first lap,' but he was making it work." Ricky Russell eventually slowed his pace, finishing an eventual fourth overall, his best finish of the season, while Kailub went on to enjoy his sixth win at the Snow- shoe facility. "This place is special to me, this is my sixth win here, and I really enjoy the whole weekend on this beautiful mountain," said Kailub Russell. "I enjoyed the course today, but it was getting tough out there. I enjoy everything about this race." Despite coming up just short of the win, Baylor was happy to come away with second. "We went back and forth, I think four or five times that last (Above) Ben Kelley won again in XC2 and was also third overall. (Below) Baylor (left) and Russell share a few words moments after the race. "Stew put the hammer down and tried to get away there at the end," said Russell. "We closed the gap and made a move over by the seven-mile marker. We went back and forth a couple different times on that last lap, but it was a fun race. We had guys spread out all over the course. Our guys [the KTM team] worked their butts off. To win here and extend the points lead is great." At the start of the race, and for the first two laps, Am Pro Ya- maha's Ricky Russell led the way, breaking away from Russell on lap one in an attempt to pull away.
