MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 5 / JUNE 22, 2019 WW RANCH MOTOCROSS PARK / JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA P62 iii My Own Race: 16 ZACH OSBORNE 3RD 450MX (5-2) Zach Osborne had a solid day in the Florida heat. "The class is stacked," Osborne said. "I'm struggling a little bit right now with the pace in the beginning. In the 250cc class, I was okay to ride 10 or 15 minutes in third or fourth and then make a charge, but with these guys, you can't give them anything. The first three laps are killing me right now. That's a little bit of an old habit, and old habits die hard. So that's the big- gest thing I need to work on." 1 ELI TOMAC 2ND 450MX (7-1) Eli Tomac did not look much like Eli Tomac in the first moto at WW Ranch, but he was back to his old self in moto two, and he left Florida with a six-point lead in the champion- ship. "It was two things," Tomac said of his first moto. "One was a horrible start; didn't go anywhere there; just lit it up in the sand and went nowhere. So I was totally buried there, but my effort forward wasn't any good, either. I was really struggling with the pace. I made one small change on my last practice to go into the moto there, and it wasn't good at all, but it was totally on me there. I was trying to find the right feeling and didn't get it there." But as for moto two? "I can't remember the last time I had a holeshot like that," Tomac said. "Bar to bar going through the first turn; clutch was better; riding the bumps a lot bet- ter that time. I was lighter on the bike and getting over stuff. It was more me." 21 JASON ANDERSON 4TH 450MX (3-4) Jason Anderson was staring down the barrel of possibly winning the overall in Florida, having grabbed third in the opening moto and then chasing down Eli Tomac during moto two, but the heat got to him. "The weekend went all right," Anderson said. "I had a good practice and was able to be P1, but it was a hot day here. The second moto, I was in a position to have a good overall and pos- sibly get up to the lead, and the heat got to me a little bit, and I kind of went backward." 2 COOPER WEBB 5TH 450MX (4-5) Cooper Webb was near the front all day at WW Ranch. He even led moto one for a while and ended up fifth overall. "It was a tough day today—the track was physically demanding, and it was hot," Webb said. "I was happy to get the holeshot in the first moto and lead for a little bit, but I struggled to maintain a good pace at the beginning. All in all, I'm happy to come away with a top-five overall, and we'll continue working hard to get up there next weekend." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 3RD 250MX (5-3) Adam Cianciarulo still holds a substantial points lead as the series heads to its halfway point at Southwick next weekend. "It's hard to kind of accept a third place when you've had a few good races in a row," Cianciarulo said. "I felt pretty off all day, honestly. I think I maybe trained a little bit too hard this week. We are from Florida, and we get to ride in this heat, but you can kind of burn yourself out a little bit. So, if I had to point at something exactly, I would say maybe I did a little bit too much there. But I can't take anything away from these guys. They were ripping. They crushed me that second moto. I'm just stoked that I was able to kind of manage the day, especially after the first moto. My start was terrible. Even the second moto the start wasn't too good either. I just kind of wasted some energy at the beginning of the first moto, too." 34 DYLAN FERRANDIS 2ND 250MX (4-1) Dylan Ferrandis won his first moto of 2019 at WW Ranch and ended up second overall. "Moto one: really bad start, outside of top 15," Ferrandis said. "I had to really push to come from the back and used a lot of energy. The second moto, the good start really helped me. That's what I miss this season is really a good start every moto. I was strug- gling a little bit with that. This was one of the hardest of the season. I won, so really proud of that."
