Hines Leads Another Harley-Davidson Rout
A
fter going winless for the
entire 2018 season, Screa-
min' Eagle Harley-Davidson's
Andrew Hines is quickly evening
the score this time around. Hines
won for the fifth time in seven
starts when he defeated team-
mate Eddie Krawiec in the Pro
Stock Motorcycle final at Summit
Motorsports Park in Norwalk,
Ohio, June 21-23.
Hines now has 53 national
event wins and five NHRA Mello
Yello Championships, but he's
never been able to rack up wins
at his current pace. Hines won
the final round with a 6.89-sec-
ond elapsed time, and that wasn't
close after Krawiec's bike bogged
off the starting line, and he
slowed to a 6.96. Hines now has
five wins at the Norwalk track in
13 attempts.
"You never know how these
races are going to work out, but
today we had different conditions
than the rest of the weekend
and my bike just seems to work
better in warm conditions when
the track is a bit greasy," Hines
said. "It seems to go down the
track when others might not.
That's something that's been a
difference from last year. We're
making good runs no matter what
the conditions are and that's why
we've been able to win so many
races."
Krawiec had the quickest bike
during Friday, and Saturday's
qualifying runs with a 6.843, but
Hines was third best with a 6.852
with Denso EBR's Matt Smith
sandwiched between the Factory
Harley riders with a 6.848. When
