VOLUME 56 ISSUE 24 JUNE 18, 2019 P91 "I just tried to cut the best last two corners of the whole race. I was actually having some tire issues, kind of slipping a little bit. I was able to get the win and 'finally' is pretty much the way to put it. It feels really good." Third went to Olmedo ahead of Marc Edwards (Kawasaki) and Benjamin Goody (Kawasaki). In the championship, Landers is clear at 175 over Daniels' 154, Olmedo is next with 97 over Rees (72) and Dominic Doyle (71). Stock 1000 The evergreen Geoff May put is Ameris Bank Kawasaki on the earned his fourth podium of the season and his third in a row with a close third-place finish over Burleson Racing's Isaiah Burleson (Kawasaki), his best- ever MotoAmerica finish. Fifth went to Gauge Rees (Kawasaki). However, in race two the old saying "every dog has its day" rang true, as Dallas Daniels (Quarterley Racing/On Track De- velopment Kawasaki) finally got a win over Landers. Championship leader Landers nearly did a Bob- by Fong and drafted alongside coming over the line, only coming up 0.044 of a second short. pole, but it was defending Stock 1000 Champion Andrew Lee (Franklin Armory/Graves Kawa- saki) who would take his second win of the year and put himself at the head of the standings. May finished second, 2.9 sec- onds back, and Stefano Mesa was third aboard his MESA37 Racing Kawasaki, with Travis Wyman (Weir Racing Every- where BMW) besting round-two winner Michael Gilbert (Kawa- saki) for fourth. "I kind of knew where (May) was a little bit stronger," Lee said. "He had my number on the iii My Own Race: 11 MATHEW SCHOLTZ 2-DNF SBK "This track is really, really tight and to make passes here, you're against some pretty big guys," Mathew Scholtz said on the podium at the end of race one. "All the guys are exceptional riders. I'm looking forward to the second race, but right now, I'm so, so happy to be back up here on the podium. I kind of felt like it was never going to happen. This year, there are so many fast guys. You look at the practice sheets, and there are six or seven guys who are all capable of finishing on the podium. I'm just really happy." Unfortunately for him, Scholtz crashed out of race two. 2 JOSH HERRIN 6-4 SBK "I was running up front and felt like I could pass whenever I wanted [in race one]," said Josh Herrin. "And then I had a problem with my back. It was so bad I had to sit up and stretch it out and then nurse it home. In Sunday's race I was nervous about it. In the back of my mind I felt like I had to be careful. I made a mistake in turn six, ran wide and lost the leaders with three laps to go. I'm bummed, but I was able to run up front this weekend, so I'm really looking forward to Laguna." 36 JAYSON URIBE 8-10 SBK "We ran up front for a short period in both races," Jayson Uribe said of his weekend. "It was good for me to see where I was stronger and weaker than my competitors. Had rear brake problems in both races, but we ended up finishing P8 regardless. Had a killer battle with Jake Gagne—sorry about the extra rubber and red paint on your BMW, Jake! We came in with no expectations, and we're leaving with high hopes of a top 5 in the future rounds. Can't wait to get back out there!"
