A
merican Flat Track brought its
traveling show to the 96th an-
niversary of the Laconia Bike
Week. The New Hampshire Motor
Speedway constructed a brand-new flat
track, just south of their famed speed-
way and a near capacity crowd of spec-
tators turned out for the first-time event.
Despite constant attention, the new fa-
cility's sand-based quarter-mile oval quick-
ly turned the show into a rodeo. Leaving
the riders scrambling to find a "setup" to
navigate through the rough terrain.
The day-long struggle culminated
in the 17-rider 25-lap AFT Twins main
event. Bronson Bauman had to over-
come three red flags and their subse-
quent restarts, but the junior member of
the Indian Wrecking Crew came away
with his first AFT Twins main event win.
Bauman (Indian Motorcycle/Progres-
sive Insurance, Indian FTR750) led an
angry mob into the first turn with Henry
Wiles (Bandit Industries/DPC Racing/
Wilco Racing, Indian FTR750) emerging
to be Bauman's first challenger.
Jeffrey Carver (Roof-Systems of
Dallas, TX/Indian of Metro Milwaukee,
Indian FTR750), Sammy Halbert (Har-
ley-Davidson Motor Company/Vance
& Hines, Harley-Davidson XG750R)
and Jared Mees (Indian Motorcycle/
Progressive Insurance, Indian FTR750)
were all in a scrum over third.
