MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS P56 BY STEVE COX | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROB KOY M ost racers have high hopes and expec- tations at round one of any champion- ship, and it usually takes a few rounds for the cream to rise to the top completely. But it's pretty safe to say that it has done just that in both classes four rounds into the 2019 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross championships. That's not to say nobody else will win motos or overalls, but barring injury or other unforeseen circumstances, the 450MX National Champion- ship is likely going to be between two different two-time series champions—Honda's Ken Roc- zen and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac. They were 1-2 at High Point yet again and head to round five tied atop the championship points standings, while the rest of the field is over one full moto behind in points already. The same can be said for the 250MX class, although the cream now consists of one racer— Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Adam Cianciarulo, who has now won four overalls in a row and holds a 26-point lead over his closest title rival. But there are still 16 motos left to run. 450MX In 450MX moto one at High Point, Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV-MC KTM) grabbed the holeshot over Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM). However, Tomac was on the move early and went by Webb, but as he tried to keep up with Baggett's torrid pace out front, Tomac went down, handing second back to Webb, who soon had his hands full with top qualifier Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna). "That crash I had, I just was a little bit off-bal- ance and got kind of lazy with my lean and just pushed my front end," Tomac said. "That's the way this track is; the dirt's really heavy, so you just have to really be right. With how long the ruts are, you've got to be on your game. I just got off- balance and made that tip over.
