PHOTO: GOLD & GOOSE Lorenzo Admits He Was At Fault J orge Lorenzo has accepted the blame for caus- ing the pileup crash at turn 10 on lap two of the Catalunya GP, saying he was "too excited" after starting the race so strongly in the top five. Lorenzo has not finished in the top 10 this year yet and was in a position to amend this at Catalu- nya; however, he lost the front of the Repsol Honda at turn 10, taking out Andrea Dovizioso, Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi. "I make a good start, recover a lot of positions, I feel very good on the bike, better than the warm-up, better than on the weekend, and I was recovering a lot on braking," said Lorenzo. "But probably I try to overtake Maverick in the wrong moment in the wrong place. I knew this was a tricky corner, like first corner of Austin very similar, and I saw many crashes like this in all the categories, happened to me in 2016 with [Andrea] Iannone. "Probably I was too excited, knowing that I was feeling good and I just felt that I could go faster and faster. My opinion is that these hairpins, creates these crashes and we saw many times. Lorenzo has avoided any punishment for the next round at Assen in two weeks' time. CN Happy Birthday, MotoGP T he motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion- ship, latterly known as MotoGP, reached its 70th birthday on Thursday, June 13. Marc Marquez: "Mick Doohan, because he was very strong and aggressive." Andrea Dovizioso: "Wayne Rainey. His style was extremely clean, and it was nice to see him winning." Alex Rins: "Kevin Schwantz, because his style was amazing, and those 500 two-stroke bikes were unbelievable." Danilo Petrucci: "Libero Liberati [1957 World Champion on a Gilera]. He was from my home town, Termi, and is a hero there. I would like to feel how racing was in 1957." Maverick Vinales: "Kevin Schwantz, also. He was really good on the brakes; the last lap would be interesting." Aleix Espargaro: "I love the 500 two- strokes. I would say Alex Criville, the first of the Spanish champions."
