pass and only opened the door
for Briar to take over second.
Johnson was also able to get
by Wiles, but only for one lap. By
that time the Bauman brothers
were checking out. Despite not
having a lot of experience leading
AFT Twin main events, Bronson
rode a flawless race.
"Holy cow, it was a long 25
laps, especially with all the
restarts," said Bronson. "It was
mentally demanding for me hon-
estly. We were running 19- and
20-second laps, but they weren't
going by very quick. It was just
survival, really."
Just after the five-laps-to-go-
board came out, the red lights
were also flashing once again.
Wiles. Soon Wiles' challenge
changed from trying to pass Bau-
man to keeping a Bauman from
passing him. Then, on lap seven,
the red was out again when
Dalton Winkler fell in precisely
the same spot as the first time.
Winkler didn't fare as well this
time as he was loaded into the
ambulance and took a trip to the
hospital to be checked out.
As the field staged for the
restart, Halbert lost fire in his
Harley-Davidson. Unable to get
restarted in time, he was sent
to the sidelines. When the light
did go green Wiles tried to pass
Bronson on the outside going into
the first turn. Unfortunately for
Wiles, he was unable to finish the
Progressive Insurance, Indian
FTR750) and Hayden's teammate
Jake Johnson join the battle.
Wiles was able to take the
lead on lap three, but the red
lights came on as Dalton Winkler
crashed exiting turn two. He was
able to make the restart from the
tail end of the field.
Scoring reverted back one lap,
and Bronson led the restart off
the line. Wiles held second, but
Briar Bauman charged all the way
into third. Halbert, Carver, Bryan
Smith (Crosley Brands/Howerton
Motorsports, Kawasaki Ninja
650), Johnson and Mees were
fighting over fourth.
With a clear track, Bronson
was able to extend his lead over
Bronson Bauman worked hard for his first career AFT Twins victory.
