IN THE WIND P34 Brookes Does The BSB Double J osh Brookes (Ducati) took both race victories on offer at the Brands Hatch round of the 2019 British Superbike Championship, closing up to within 21 points of championship leader Tommy Bridewell (Ducati) in the process. Brookes was sensational in testing conditions in race one, scything his way through the field as the damp track gradually dried to form a somewhat dry line by race-end. He would take the win ahead of Yamaha's Dan Linfoot with Bridewell third. Race two was a straight-up boxing match between Brookes and Bridewell, but long-time leader Brookes held his nerve and made it a double win—his 10th career victory at Brands Hatch— from Bridewell with Brookes' teammate Scott Redding making up for an incorrect tire choice and last place finish in race one with the final podium place in third for race two. CN Race One Race Two Ducati Debuts V4 Streetfighter Prototype For Pikes Peak D ucati has officially taken the wraps off their 2020 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb chal- lenger, the Streetfighter V4 Proto- type. The machine will be piloted by 2018 race winner and former record holder Carlin Dunne in the Exhibi- tion category, with the sole aim of claiming the lap record from KTM's Chris Fillmore who took it from Dunne and Ducati in 2017 with a 9:49.265. The new machine that Dunne will race is essentially a stripped back Panigale V4 S, powered by a 1103cc V4, not the 999cc unit found in the SBK-spec V4 R. "The Streetfight- er V4 will be one of the stars of the Ducati World Pre- miere 2020," said Claudio Domeni- cali, CEO of Ducati. "Streetfighter V4 is the Panigale for road riding, so there was no better stage than the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb for what will be the highest perfor- mance Streetfighter ever put into production." The prototype will race with a "pixelated" livery, designed by the Centro Stile Ducati. Unlike the normal practice with prototypes, the livery does not hide the lines, but exalts them by deliberately revealing how the bike will finally look. The bike will be presented to the public at EICMA 2019 and will be available in Ducati dealerships start- ing Spring 2020. CN Ducati's charger certainly looks the part for Pikes Peak. Will Dunne nail the record on the Streetfighter V4 Prototype?
