OFF-ROAD KENDA AMA NATIONAL ENDURO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES, PRESENTED P60 ROUND 4 / JUNE 9, 2019 GREENSBORO, GEORGIA BY SHAN MOORE PHOTOGRAPHY BY SHAN MOORE W hile torrential down- pours leading up to and during the race left the Cherokee National Forest with saturated trails, Steward Baylor took advantage of a mistake by his brother, Grant, to win the Cherokee National Enduro, round four of the Kenda AMA National Enduro Series in Greensboro, Georgia. When all was said and done after a wet day in the Geor- gia woods, the Tely Energy Rac- ing teammates filled the top two steps of the Cherokee podium. Grant held a six-second gap over his brother heading into the sixth and final test of the day, but a loss in concentration left the South Carolina rider struggling to get back in the race. "I was just trying to push the limit a little too much," said Grant. "I just came into a corner a little too hot and lost it and went off into some really thick trees. I was underneath [the motorcycle] and couldn't get it off of me. I was sitting there for a good minute and finally got it out. So, I lost the overall lead there. It was a pretty frustrating day, but at least I still ended up here in second to my brother." "The last test I came around and saw that Grant was off in the bushes, and I knew from there I had it in the bag, and we just rode it in," said Steward. Steward, however, did stop to check on his brother before par- laying his windfall into his second overall win of the season. When the scores were tallied, Steward won four of the six tests to take the overall win by one minute and six seconds over Grant. Steward Baylor took full advantage of a mistake by his brother to take the overall victory at the Cherokee National Enduro in Georgia.
