VOLUME 56 ISSUE 23 JUNE 11, 2019 P49 was sixth in championship. "I am feeling really good but both races were really tough be- cause Arnaud was really fast and pushing," said Gajser. "Overall, I am happy winning again. Three races ago I was more than 40 points behind Tony and now I have the red plate." In the MX2 class, Prado (Red Bull KTM) won both motos but had to work especially hard for the first one after starting from outside the top 10. However, he steadily carved his way through the pack, passing Thomas Kjer Olsen (Husqvarna) late in the race to get the win. Belgian Jago Geerts (Yamaha) was third. Prado nailed the holeshot in the second moto and ran off with the win, finishing nearly five sec- onds ahead of Olsen, the rider closest to Prado in the champi- onship. Geerts finished third in the moto ahead of Italian Michael Cervellin (Yamaha) and French- man Tom Vialle (KTM). Prado, Olsen and Geerts filled out the overall podium. "I felt pretty good this week- end," Prado said. "The track was hard, but I felt good getting the Saturday qualifying race win, and today I was in the back of the pack [in the first moto], so I had to make my way up to the front, but I had good speed and fought all the way to the end to get the win." American Darian Sanayei (Kawasaki) showed some prom- ise by putting his bike at the front of the pack early in the first MX2 moto and near the front of moto two. He couldn't quite parlay those encouraging starts into a top-10 overall finish, but he did take a strong sixth in moto one, and ended the day 12th overall. Fellow American Mitchell Harrison (Kawasaki) earned five championship points on the day with 19th overall. Prado's lead in the champion- ship over Olsen is now up to 20. Geerts is another 70 points back in third. CN Jorge Prado won again in MX2 but had to work for it. PHOTO: RAY ARCHER
