and before.
Lowes was three times
unlucky. First, with the rac-
ing incident he took on the
chin—and the left glove,
which was ripped off in the
accident. He then fell in the
sprint race, and also the
final race, but remounting to
finish 14th and last, for two
points.
He only never finished the
Superpole race, in fact, as
he got back on to finish 16th in
race one, despite his nerfing off
from Rea.
Behind the podium orders of
Bautista, VDM, Melandri (same
in the Superpole) and then VDM,
Rea, and Razgatlioglu, there
were some notable finishes.
Sykes had a season-best
equaling fifth in the Superpole
race, 7.4 seconds from the win.
Michael Ruben Rinaldi (Barni
Raving Ducati) was fourth in the
final race.
With so much going on at
Jerez, on track and off, it was a bit
chaotic—and everybody loved it.
Bautista now has 300 points,
Rea 259, and new third-place
man Van der Mark has 188.
WorldSSP
Even the WorldSSP riders
were not immune from some reg-
ulatory interjections at Jerez, as
in Superpole the original winner
Federico Caricasulo (BARDAHL
Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha)
eventually had to give that sta-
tus to his teammate, and now
main championship rival, Randy
Krummenacher (BARDAHL Evan
Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) after he
exceeded the track limits.
He got his own back by putting
in a superb last lap that broke the
following pack of five riders, who
had just started to get strung out
in the final two laps.
"The race was a very tactical
one, the pace not fast," said Cari-
casulo. "It wasn't easy to fight off
the frequent attacks from rivals in
the leading group. I really pushed
to the max over the last two laps
as if it were qualifying."
Caricasulo's ability to harness
the kind of speed he has always
had, with the maturity and intel-
ligence he has grown recently,
was the difference today.
But this being WorldSSP, he
still won by less than a second.
Behind Caricasulo and Krum-
menacher, Jules Cluzel (GMT94
Yamaha) was third, for his first
podium since Buriram.
In the points, Krummenacher
has 135, Caricasulo has 118,
Cluzel 94 and Okubo 59.
