Davey G. Johnson Currently
Missing
A
wide-scale search is
currently underway for
missing motorcyclist Davey
G. Johnson, a respected
journalist with a resume
spanning publications
including Car and Driver,
Autoweek and Jalopnik.
Johnson is an experienced
rider who was last heard
from around 2:00 a.m.
on Wednesday morning,
June 5. The 44-year-old
was leaving the Mammoth
Mountain area and was
traveling home to the Sac-
ramento area along Califor-
nia State Route 49 aboard
a Honda CB1000R press
bike. He was reported
missing to the Calaveras
County Sheriff's Office on
Friday, June 7, and shortly
after, his motorcycle was
located by the California
Highway patrol in a rest
area near Mokelumne Hill
in Calaveras County. On Saturday, June
8, the Sheriff Department confirmed
they located Johnson's clothes, laptop
and cellphone near the river, but no
wallet.
The ongoing search has expanded
to include multiple agencies, boats,
helicopters, dogs and 45 people comb-
ing the river area. The Calaveras County
Sheriff's Department is asking anybody
with information on the whereabouts of
David Gordon Johnson to please contact
them at 209-754-6500. Johnson was
born December 4, 1975, is 5'10" around
200 pounds with salt-and-pepper hair.
A GoFundMe has been started for the
volunteer search and rescue workers,
which can be found here. Johnson's girl-
friend Jaclyn Trop did an interview with
CBS This Morning that aired on Monday,
June 10, explaining the details of his
