MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4 / MAY 31-JUNE 2, 2019 ROAD AMERICA / ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN P92 "There was just so much going on," Gerl- off said. "There were four or five guys there, so everybody's board was in front of the other one. It just slipped my mind. I knew it was at least two laps to go, so I was trying to put myself in a good spot. But I just didn't know that it was the actual last lap. It didn't matter. I was still giving it my all." The top five was rounded out by Herrin in fourth and Scholtz taking fifth. In race two, it was Herrin who made up for not only missing the win in race one but also making an around-the-outside pass stick with an audacious move on Elias on the final lap. Herrin's pass was superb, holding off Elias to slide back in front with half a lap to go. But more drama was to follow, as Elias grabbed too much front brake on the final corner and threw the then-second-placed Suzuki into the gravel trap, right in front of chief title rival Cameron Beaubier, who trailed Herrin home for second with Gerloff again climb- ing onto the podium in third. Californian Herrin was pumped to not only get the win but put one over Elias after the two almost collided in race one. "I just knew that on the last lap I wanted to make a pass somewhere that for sure he wasn't expecting it," Herrin said. "I think where I did it was perfect and enough to kind of get him flustered. Then his whole plan kind of goes out the win- dow. He was probably expecting me to go in on Canada Corner and come in a little hot and then cross back underneath him. So, it worked out perfect for me." Rocco Landers (97) proved once again he was the kid to beat, and despite coming very close, no one could best him at Road America. (Below) Cameron Beaubier played a near- perfect hand at Road America, staying out of trouble and pulling 20 points back on Elias. Superbike Race One
