MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4 / MAY 31-JUNE 2, 2019 ROAD AMERICA / ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN P94 Supersport class spoils at Road America. The results see Gillim move a seven-point lead over Fong, with Richie Escalante (Hud- son Motorcycles Yamaha), who carded a fourth in race one and sixth in race two sitting third at 81. Race one saw Gillim come home a scant 0.646 seconds clear of Fong and his M4 team- mate, Sean Dylan Kelly, with Es- calante a further six seconds back and well clear of Bryce Prince (Tuned Racing Yamaha) in fifth. "There was no point in me just going and burning up my tires, pitching the bike away or anything like that," Gillim said. "I waited for the last lap, and then Sean got up in there. It was a fight. It was tough. It was a really fun race. I was just happy I was able to stay in there." Fong was ecstatic to get his own back in race two, besting Kel- ly, Gillim, PJ Jacobsen (Celtic Rac- ing HSBK Yamaha) and Brandon Paasch (TSE Racing Yamaha). "I thought it was a real good race," Fong said. "I knew Hayden was going to be up there. He's real strong. He has more con- fidence in his front end than anybody I've ever raced with, so I knew he was going to be up there. "Glad I was able just to keep it on two wheels and to get lucky today and be on the podium. Not ideal, but I'll take it." Rounding out the top five were Beach and Scholtz. In the championship, Elias leads with 151 points to Beaubier's 142; Gerloff is next at 104, Beach with 100 and Herrin is fifth at 96. Supersport Hayden Gillim (Rickdiculous Racing Yamaha) and Bobby Fong (M4 Ecstar Suzuki) shared the Beaubier's second place netted him 20 valuable points in the title chase, saying, "I did everything I could just to stay on Josh and Toni's wheel in the race today. I can be happy with that. Unfortunately for Toni, he crashed but gave us a pretty good chunk in points because we were pretty far back going into the race this afternoon. So now I think it's nine points, so it's going to be a dog fight the rest of the season." Gerloff's third place was his fourth podium in a row, even if it came at the expense of Elias. "I figured something might hap- Geoff May (99) returns to the front of an AMA race, taking the race-one Stock 1000 win. Superbike Race Two
