H
angtown left a lot of people scratching their heads regard-
ing the performance of two-time and defending 450MX Pro
Motocross Champ Eli Tomac. He had become known for his
late-race charges over the past few years, but in the first moto at
Hangtown—where he had won three of the previous four years—after
the halfway point, he went backward instead of forward. He won in the
muddy second moto but lost the overall to Honda HRC's Ken Roczen.
The Monster Energy Kawasaki Team rider, however, returned to his
previous form at round two of the 2019 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross
Championships at Fox Raceway in Pala, California, where Tomac
charged to the front in the late stages of the first moto to take the win,
then repeated that performance in moto two.
