MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1 / MAY 18, 2019 RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA / PRAIRIE CITY OHV PARK P64 very long time," Roczen said. "Just, overall, the whole day was good. It's really difficult at the first race to know what to expect and where everybody's at. So, every time I went out there, I just did the best I could. It got us an overall. I'm very happy, especially with how muddy and how sloppy it was. It can go the other way, too, and you can find yourself very far back." Behind Roczen came Osborne, Musquin, Anderson, Webb, Bar- cia, Barcia's new teammate for the summer, Dean Ferris (11th in moto one), Bogle and Baggett. Roczen took the overall with a 1-2 score over Tomac's 4-1 and Anderson's 2-5. Osborne was fourth overall with a 5-3 and Webb was fifth with a 3-6. "Crazy. I mean, it's been a very, zen, passing him back around the halfway point before pulling away to win by a substantial margin in the mud, finishing over 40 sec- onds in front of Roczen in second. "It took a little while to get going and get the flow," Tomac said of the second moto. "I side-saddled the bike once or twice, and it got a little wild, but all in all, it was a fun ride in that second moto." 2 COOPER WEBB 5TH (3-6) 450MX Cooper Webb barely had any time to celebrate his 2019 450SX Championship before he had to get going on outdoors, but he rode solid at Hangtown on his way to fifth overall. "The opening round went pretty well considering the conditions at the end of the day," Webb said. "In the second moto, I struggled in the mud to get a flow going, and I fell a few times. Overall, it's not what I wanted, but it's a good start to the season, and we're in a good position, so we'll get better from here." 92 ADAM CIANCIARULO 1ST (2-1) 250MX "I had a good year in supercross," said Adam Cianciarulo of his day. "It didn't end great, but I still felt confident coming into the [outdoor] season. Justin [Cooper] was riding really good in that first moto. We both got a good start. I felt like we were being kind of smart and pacing each other a little bit to see how the track would come around. I kind of pumped up a little bit in the first moto, honestly, which was super-weird, because I don't pump-up too much. Then he just sprinted away at the end, and I had Dylan [Ferrandis] and Chase [Sexton] really com- ing up on me the last couple of laps. So I had to just fend them off. Then, the second moto, it was just all about the start. I was able to get around Colt [Nichols] around the outside before you go up the hill. You just had to keep your head down and stay focused. I lost my goggles with like four laps to go, and I don't think I've ever done a race with no goggles before, so that was kind of freaking me out a little bit. But it feels good to get the first one out of the way and to have a good result." 32 JUSTIN COOPER 2ND (1-4) 250MX "The feeling was indescribable," said Justin Cooper of winning the first moto. "It was awesome. I got a great start, and I was just feeling so nervous going into that moto. It was like, 'Wow, we're here, and we're doing it now.' But it was great to get a good start and kind of pace everyone. I tightened up as well. The track was a little awkward out there. The bumps were weird, and I wasn't flowing, but I was able to ride through the arm-pump and get away toward the end after Adam [Cianciarulo] started charging." 39 COLT NICHOLS 3RD (5-3) 250MX "[It's] right where I wanted to be," said Colt Nichols of his third-place finish. "I don't really think a lot of people in the fantasy pool would've had me picked for third, but I felt great, though, especially the second moto. Practice and the first moto were kind of awkward for me. Just having that first race, bike setup, and first-race jitters going on, but it feels good to be right in the thick of the championship."
