MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 1 / MAY 18, 2019 RANCHO CORDOVA, CALIFORNIA / PRAIRIE CITY OHV PARK P60 characteristically off the pace for much of the first moto. Former 250MX champ Zach Osborne was fifth, just in front of Blake Baggett (Rocky Mountain ATV-MC KTM), Marvin Musquin (Red Bull KTM), Barcia, Cole Seely (Honda HRC) and Justin Bogle (Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/WPS KTM) rounded out the top 10. Musquin grabbed the holeshot in the second moto, but Tomac was right behind him and went into the lead right away, followed quickly by Roczen, who chased Tomac down in the first few minutes of the race and tripled by the defending champ in the pouring rain. Tomac took that as an opportu- nity to learn some new lines and reset, then went back after Roc- I ended up having to get another surgery a month, or a month and a half after, so it took me a good two and a half months to even start rid- ing. So, that was the longest thing. And then, obviously, getting back into riding; you take two months off, [you get] blisters, you get sore, and everything and everything's just insane. So, for about two and a half months, I was chillin', and now I ended up being able to get some time in on the bike. I felt pretty good today, not bad, but at the same time, I feel like we still have room to make improvements." THAT ELUSIVE FIRST WIN Believe it or not, former Super- cross Champion Jason Anderson is still waiting to get that first overall victory in MX. "I've always wanted to do good in motocross, I just honestly have gotten hurt every time I've made it through either a couple races or halfway through the season," he said. "But, for the most part, over the last three years, I've been on the podium a lot in the races that I have done outdoors. So, I don't think there's any reason why I can't get a win this year, so I'm really working towards that and working towards battling for the championship. I feel like, today, the first moto, I felt really good toward the end of it, and I think if we can keep improving and put two solid motos together, where we ride good from start to finish, I think we can be in the battle." Briefly... (L-R) Tomac, Roczen and Anderson took center stage at Hangtown.
