Gene Romero
If you came of age as a motorcy-
clist in the 60s, 70s or 80s, you
knew about Gene Romero. In
many ways Grand National rac-
ing had its golden age in his era,
and he was a major figure.
It's good to see the resur-
gence of the American Flat
Track series.
R.I.P., Gene.
Scott Roney
A true legend and hero.
R.I.P., Gene Romero.
Paul Advey
One of the worst things about
growing old is seeing great
people like Gene Romero pass
away. One of motorcycling's
greatest has left us.
R.I.P., sir.
Raymond Kristjan Poteet
A sad day for us all, he was a
helluva racer.
Randy Graham
I was happy to get to meet Mr.
Romero. He was one of my
heroes in my early years.
R.I.P., Burrito.

So-Cal Half Mile
Props to Harley-Davidson for
making a show of it. Vanderkooi
and Halbert lit up the track.
The rest of the field has unrav-
eled many of the secrets Mees
learned developing the Indian.
Bryan Smith stuck it to Mees at
the Meadowlands last year with
a better Indian and more talent.
A shadow of things to come in
the Hooligans race—DiBrino on
the KTM 790 beating a slew of
Indian FTR1200s. The future in
Flat Track.

Trade Wars
My concern is about the fiscal
impact to small mom and pop
motorcycle dealers who are
operating on narrow profit mar-
gins and are struggling to stay
in business. Those shops who
have dealt with the recession,
increased operating costs in
some states, and natural disas-
ters such as wildfires that close
public lands might not be able to
survive a tariff war.

The flamboyant Gene
"Burrito" Romero
helped put motorcycle
racing in the spotlight
in the early days.
