Rea Finally Comes Good
In Imola WorldSBK
A
fter the dominant performances put in by Alvaro Bautista
and his Aruba.it Ducati Panigale V4 R in every single race,
you could be forgiven for thinking that the previously dominant
Jonathan Rea and his Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR needed full-on
superpowers to win again.
However, as Rea's double win, May 11-12, at the very old-
school and endlessly winding Imola in Italy proved—they just
needed the right circuit layout and untouchable experience of
it to score two particularly well-timed wins.
Imola is now Rea's second-best track after Assen with nine
wins racked up at the old parkland circuit.
These two wins—and it may have been three if the final
19-lap race had not been canceled due to terribly wet condi-
tions—are more than indications that in the right circumstanc-
es Rea and Kawasaki have still got a winning package to go
with their well-honed winners' mentality.
