CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 56 ISSUE 18 MAY 7, 2019 P71 Husqvarna) scored fifth after winning his first-ever 450SX heat race earlier in the night. Despite his obvious speed, Tomac came up short of a title yet again. Tomac ended the series with six wins, to Webb's seven, and second in the cham- pionship. "It's putting the whole season together," Tomac said of what he's missing. "I just need to were going well, that's when you kind of realize that, man, it could actually happen," Webb said of winning the 450SX title. "So, yeah, it's incredible to make it happen. What a journey. It's crazy, really. I'm in shock." Tomac was easily the class of the field, and Webb held off a charge by Ken Roczen (Honda HRC) for third place, while Zach Osborne (Rockstar Energy try—on my Instagram. He just put, 'Go AC' on my Instagram; really stupid. Sometimes, American people can be a little bit hard, but I show every time my best, and I try to be a good rider, a safe rider, and I never do dirty moves, so I think people respect that. I hope they respect it. I'm a little bit proud to put my French name on the American list of champions. It's really a good accomplishment for me." ROCZEN RE-SIGNED Ken Roczen has signed a new deal with Honda that will carry him through 2022. Roczen is currently in his third year with Honda on an original con- tract that was for three years with an option for two more, so his signing a three-year deal likely means it's a new contract structure from the contract he was already on. REALLY TOUGH LUCK Mitch Payton's Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki squad was abso- lutely dominating the 2019 250cc SX championships this year, looking like the PC team of lore, but despite winning 11 out of the 17 rounds, his team ended up taking home neither title after Austin Forkner blew out his knee and Adam Cianciarulo twisted his bike up in the Las Vegas 250SX East/West Shootout. TLD KTM Mitchell Falk was the last remain- ing healthy racer for the TLD/Red Bull KTM team in Las Vegas, with his teammates Jordon Smith, Shane McElrath and Sean Cantrell all bowing out of the event. Smith and McElrath skipped Vegas as they were getting ready for the outdoors, but Cantrell's absence is a mystery for now. Briefly... Webb didn't back off in Vegas. He still rode hard and took third in the main event.
