Hines Gives
Harley-
Davidson
100th NHRA
Win
O
ne week after winning his
50th NHRA Pro Stock
Motorcycle event in Charlotte,
Screamin' Eagle Vance & Hines
rider Andrew Hines earned an
even more significant milestone
when he won again in Atlanta,
May 3-5. This time, Hines cel-
ebrated the 100th victory for the
Screamin' Eagle Harley-David-
son program in NHRA competi-
tion after beating White Alligator
Suzuki's Jerry Savoie.
"The 100 wins for Harley-
Davidson is monumental," Hines
said. "They took a chance on
Vance & Hines in the early
2000s, and it was a big struggle
at first. There were a lot of trials
and tribulations until we finally
broke through for our first win in
2004. We've had rules changes
and different bikes and different
engines. I think I've ridden eight
or nine different chassis in my
career, but we just picked away
at it. In the final, I smiled when
went I went across the finish line.
I just want to keep riding this
wave to see where it goes."
Hines earned career victory
number 51 with a 6.865 elapsed
time that was his quickest run of
eliminations. After an even start,
Savoie quickly fell behind and
finished with a 6.91. Hines was
shut out of the winner's circle in
2018 and now has three victories
in the first four races of the 2019
season.
"This was a very good day.
Right now, my motorcycle is
like nothing I've ever had in my
career," Hines said. "It's work-
ing really well, and it doesn't do
much wrong. The chassis [setup]
is perfect, and that makes charg-
ing through eliminations much
easier. It's like drawing a chalk
line straight down the middle
of the racetrack. Right now, it
keeps the front wheel in the air
for 400 feet and then it sets it
down and keeps pulling."
Andrew Hines
reached another
milestone at
the Southern
Nationals in
Atlanta.
