MOTOAMERICA AMA/FIM NORTH AMERICAN ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 / MAY 3-5, 2019 VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY / ALTON, VIRGINIA P106 cleared off, taking a win of just over three seconds from Richie Escalante, who was aboard the Hudson Motorcycles (H.B. Racing Yamaha), and an old Supersport face in former four- time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Josh Hayes, riding for wife Melissa Paris' MP13 Yamaha outfit. "I kind of had a good plan there in the beginning," Jacob- sen said after his first MotoAmer- ica victory. "I was following Bobby. I said to myself, with 10 or eight laps left in the race, I was going to try to get out front and push and see what lap times I could run to pull a gap. Obvious- ly, that didn't work out with the red flag, so I tried to do the same thing in the restarted race, and it worked out for me. With, like, six laps to go, I really just managed the gap. It worked out for us." Yamaha riders Bryce Prince and Jason Aguilar rounded out the top five in race two. In a drenched race two, Gillim took an emotional win on the 12th anniversary of his brother Ethan's passing, topping Hayes and teenage sensation Sean Dylan Kelly (M4 Ecstar Suzuki). "Those guys worked their butts off," said Gillim, referring to the team who rebuilt his smashed bike after race one. "I think they were here until 12:30 in the morn- ing and then they had to get up and come right back to the track. So, this was for them. Yesterday was my team owner Josh Bron- fman's birthday, so this is for his birthday. It's a late birthday pres- ent for him. Today is the anniver- sary of my little brother's passing, so to do that on this day is pretty amazing. It was such a fun race." Rounding out the top five in race two of Supersport were Yamaha riders Xavier Zayat and Nick McFadden (Yam). In the championship, Jacob- sen leads with 63 points over Richie Escalante at 58; Gillim is third with 56 points. Liqui Moly Junior Cup It didn't matter for Rocco Landers (Lander's Racing Kawasaki) if he Jackson Blackmon (18) may have technically won race two, but the real win went to Cameron Jones (11) on the ill- fancied Honda.
