SUPERCROSS
ROUND 17 / MAY 4, 2019
SAM BOYD STADIUM / LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
P66
MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS
West points leader Adam Ciancia-
rulo ended up tossing his cham-
pionship away in one of the most
stunning upsets in the history of
the Las Vegas finale.
450SX
In the 450SX class, Eli Tomac
(Monster Energy Kawasaki) had
to win the main event to have any
chance whatsoever at the cham-
pionship, and in the final main
event of the year, he grabbed
his first holeshot of the year and
simply took off. He did his part.
Webb, however, started in
second, losing that spot early to
his teammate Marvin Musquin,
and stayed there, knowing a third
was more than enough to secure
his first-ever 450SX title.
"Toward the end, when things
Eli Tomac (3) did what
he had to do and that's
win the Las Vegas final.
But it wasn't enough
to catch Webb in the
championship.
iii My Own Race:
31 RJ HAMPSHIRE 2ND 250SX
"It was a really cool day for my whole team," said RJ Hampshire. "I rode well in
practice and felt like my bike was working good. I got the holeshot in the heat and
also the main. I struggled badly in the first half of the main and really had to take a
couple steps back to regroup and figure out what I needed to change. For once, I
actually felt like a veteran and made a pretty smart call! I even let Chase by because
I was getting so sketchy, and I didn't want to end up going down and taking him out
with me. I followed him for a couple laps to hopefully learn something in the whoops.
It started coming together then I saw my pit board said, "4 laps, all out." I went for
it, and it paid off! I was able to get to second. Really happy to see the team have so
much success on the night!"
