20 years ago to accompany our interview with the World Superbike
Championship hopeful… We had full coverage of the AMA Superbike
race from Sears Point. Mat Mladin ran away with the win. Nicky
Hayden was the 600cc Supersport-class winner… Kenny Robert Jr.
won a very wet Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi… Ezra Lusk won the
Indianapolis Supercross and the Vans Triple Crown Championship,
which paid $25,000 to the winner.
Our preview of the 1989 National Road Race Series hit the stands 30
years ago… We covered round two of the National Motocross Series
from Sacramento, California. George Holland (125cc) and Jeff Stanton
(250cc) topped the 21st Hangtown MX Classic… Larry Roeseler won the
Shasta Dam Grand Prix… In Brownsville, Pennsylvania, Scott Plessinger
was the overall winner at the Brown Jug 100 GNCC… Jeff Emig, Joel
Albrecht, Butch Smith and Tommy Clowers were some of the standout
riders at the NMA World Mini Grand
Prix in Las Vegas.
