30 Years Ago MAY 3, 1989 Castrol Honda' Aaron Slight was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago to accompany our interview with the World Superbike Championship hopeful… We had full coverage of the AMA Superbike race from Sears Point. Mat Mladin ran away with the win. Nicky Hayden was the 600cc Supersport-class winner… Kenny Robert Jr. won a very wet Japanese Grand Prix at Motegi… Ezra Lusk won the Indianapolis Supercross and the Vans Triple Crown Championship, which paid $25,000 to the winner.
