SUPERCROSS MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS, AN FIM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 16 / APRIL 27, 2019 EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. / METLIFE STADIUM P58 was tough to watch. Sexton (Geico Honda) went on to win the race for the first time of his career, and, with it, he is the new points leader. He heads into the final round (an East/ West Shootout round) in Las Vegas with a nine-point lead over Justin Cooper, who finished third in N.J. behind Monster Energy/ Star Yamaha Racing teammate Mitchell Oldenburg 450SX There were a few notable mo- ments in the 450SX main event, the first being Musquin hitting the deck after tangling with Justin Bogle in the first turn. This was a massive blow to Musquin who turn, he passed—rather aggres- sively—title rival Chase Sexton for second place early in the main event. Suddenly it was all over for him. Perhaps running on a bit too much adrenaline, For- kner over-jumped into the face of another jump and that was it. His tender knee couldn't take it anymore and gave out. Forkner had no choice but to pull off. Not only did he have to endure the intense pain in his knee but also the pain of having to accept that the 250SX East Championship, that he seemed so assured of just a few weeks earlier, was lost, including his chance of racing in the outdoor series that starts up next month. Forkner fan or not, it up for the first heat race. Brayton, however, qualified ninth for the 450SX program and ended up 13 th in the main. BOGLE DNF Justin Bogle has been showing some real speed again as of late. The Rocky Mountain ATV/MC-KTM- WPS Team rider qualified sixth for the 450SX program and won his heat, which included Eli Tomac, Blake Baggett, Justin Hill and Ken Roczen. He also emerged from the heat races as the fastest rider, giv- ing him first gate pick for the main. Unfortunately he only made six laps before suffering a mechanical that took him out of the race. Briefly... Osborne came close to winning but was happy to nab his first 450SX podium; Marvin Musquin (25) wasn't as successful.
