to win again, as the
450SX Championship
gets whittled down
to just two

T
he race for the 2019 Monster Energy AMA Super-
cross Championship has been narrowed down to just
two riders—Cooper Webb and Eli Tomac—after an
entertaining evening of racing at MetLife Stadium in New
Jersey.
It was textbook Webb in the 450SX main event, as he
figured out a way to win again when the odds seemed
stacked against him. The 450SX points leader came into
the race feeling under the weather (so much so that he
threw up before practice), and he qualified for the evening's
program a subpar (for him) fifth. He wasn't even all that
impressive in his heat race where he finished six seconds
behind his Red Bull KTM teammate Marvin Musquin. How-
ever, when the chips were down, and with the champion-
ship on the line, Webb did what he has done so many times
this year—find a way to win when he wasn't at his best.
Webb admitted afterward that he wasn't the fastest rider
of the night, but that didn't mean he was going to throw
in the towel. True champions don't do that, and Webb
